About The Role

As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you'll support our Structural Engineering team in the design and delivery of building projects. Your responsibilities will include undertaking structural analysis and design calculations, preparing specifications and sketches/drawings, carrying out structural inspections, and attending project meetings. You will work closely with experienced engineers to develop practical, safe, and sustainable design solutions across a range of sectors. You'll be working on the following:

  • Structural analysis and design calculations, to solve structural engineering problems.
  • Parametric design to support the design of low-embodied carbon structures.
  • Structural engineering specifications.
  • Structural engineering inspections and investigations, to help restore buildings and keep them from demolition.
  • Assisting with the production of 3D Revit models and structural engineering drawings.
  • Taking part in project and team meetings, to collaborate with other designers, develop your communication skills, and be a part of all project matters.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is IEng or CEng status with either the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Institution of Structural Engineers.

Your Impact

This role will help create high-quality, sustainable and resilient buildings that deliver positive outcomes for communities and the environment. Working across a range of projects, you will support the design and delivery of safe, efficient and future-ready buildings, helping clients reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create spaces that improve the wellbeing of those who use them. Your work will contribute to sustainable development goals, support the efficient use of resources, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of both clients and local communities.

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in BEng Civil or Structural Engineering, a knowledge of Microsoft 365 / Office AutoCAD and familiarity with structural engineering analysis and design software would be beneficial, and a keen interest in working in the Buildings sector, you’ll be:

  • An Adapter - You're able to remain calm in new and changing situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
  • A Perseverer - You stay composed in the face of setbacks, approaching challenges with confidence and determination.
  • An Eager Learner - You learn from your experiences and the world around you, using this knowledge to anticipate how situations may unfold.
  • A Collaborator - You work effectively with lots of different people, considering others' perspectives to shape better outcomes.
  • A Problem-Solver - You love to give your thoughts based on what you see, being unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support. Applicants must have an unconditional right to live and work in the UK for an indefinite period without limitation.
