About the Role – Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting learning and raising attainment in STEM subjects such as Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, and Engineering. You will assist in delivering engaging lessons, running academic interventions, and providing tailored support for students preparing for their GCSE and A-Level exams.

Key responsibilities
  • Leading 1:1 and small group academic interventions to boost student understanding and confidence.
  • Supporting classroom teaching, lesson planning, and resource creation.
  • Helping students prepare for examinations and improve key academic skills.
  • Assisting in the development of creative and effective teaching strategies.
  • Gaining insight into a range of learning needs and approaches to differentiation.
What We’re Looking For – Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant

This role is ideal for a STEM graduate who is passionate about education and considering a future in teaching, academia, or research.

We’re looking for candidates who
  • Hold a 2:1 degree or above in a STEM-related subject (e.g., Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Computer Science).
  • Have excellent subject knowledge and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and confidently.
  • Are professional, reliable, and enthusiastic about supporting student achievement.
  • Possess strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
  • May have experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, outreach – desirable but not essential).
  • Are considering teacher training routes such as a PGCE or Schools Direct programme.
