Job summary

The University of Plymouth's Medical Statistics group is seeking a graduate statistician to support the Down's syndrome screening Quality Assurance Support Service (DQASS).

The role focuses on statistical analysis, R programming, and database handling with SQL, reporting data from screening laboratories to DQASS. The successful candidate will work on site one day per week, with flexible working possibilities and opportunities to contribute to trials and longitudinal studies.

Qualifications

  • You will hold, or expect to graduate in summer 2026 with, a good first degree in Statistics or Mathematics and a strong working knowledge of R programming.
  • Knowledge of databases and SQL are desirable.
  • You must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate complex concepts to non-statisticians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform statistical analysis, R programming, and data reporting for the DQASS from screening laboratories.
  • Handle databases and SQL queries, and respond to queries from laboratories or FASP via email or phone.
  • Support senior colleagues on related projects such as clinical trials, longitudinal studies and service contracts.
