A legal firm in London is offering an apprenticeship program combining practical, on-the-job training with study at the University of Law. This role includes rotating through different areas such as Banking and Pensions, assisting lawyers with legal tasks and responsibilities. The ideal candidate will engage in legal research, drafting, and preparation of case summaries as they navigate their path to qualification as a solicitor.
Our apprenticeship programme combines on-the-job training with guided, independent study delivered by the University of Law (ULaw). It will guide you through the new pathway to qualification as a solicitor by completion of the Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE1 and SQE2). You will have access to a skills coach at ULaw who will support you throughout the programme. Four days a week will be spent working in our office in the City of London and the fifth day will be allocated to study.
During your apprenticeship you will spend your time rotating through the following four different areas of the firm: Know-how (which provides technical support to our lawyers and keeps both them and our clients up to speed with legal developments), Banking or Finance & Investment, Pensions Litigation and general Pensions. You will be supporting lawyers on different client matters and your responsibilities will vary depending on each rotation. In your Know-how seat you will be assisting with legal research, proof reading, preparing first drafts of client briefings, circulating information to fee-earners and preparing case summaries. In your Banking, general pensions and pensions litigation seats you will assist with a range of legal tasks including legal research, drafting, proof reading documents, creation and maintenance of transaction bibles, producing bundles, assisting with projects, as well as assisting with billing administration.
Upon joining Sackers, you will be assigned a junior lawyer as your buddy, who will support you in the onboarding process, provide insight into the day-to-day activities of Sackers and help you to settle in. Our dedicated apprentice supervisor will have regular check ins with you to discuss your workload and to ensure that it is giving you the necessary development to meet the needs of the SRA skills requirements. Additionally, throughout your apprenticeship you will have interim and end of seat reviews for each of your seats.
Outside of the “day job” there are opportunities to get involved in the firm’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, as well as some activities organised by our social committee “Joy Comm”. We welcome (and encourage!) involvement from staff across the firm on these initiatives.
Remember to mention AllAboutLaw in your application so employers know you’re using the best resources.
