Graduate Software Engineer opportunities for our 2026 Graduate intake. Suitable for people who will have graduated within 2 years of taking up this position. As part of the Diamond Scientific Software, Controls and Computation department (SSCC), you will work within a research-focussed environment alongside world leading scientists and professional engineers, addressing technically challenging problems for the good of humanity. We offer an initial two-year-long rotational development programme in software technologies, development methodologies, and personal professional growth.
Diamond Light Source is one of the most advanced scientific facilities in the world. It houses the UK's synchrotron light source, producing beams of light 10 billion times brighter than the sun, to probe the structure and composition of matter. Our software enables the world-leading science performed at Diamond, supporting operations at all levels including low-level control of hardware, planning, execution and monitoring of experiments, data archiving and retrieval, data processing and visualisation, and remote experiment plans and samples. Our software engineers work alongside scientists to develop innovative and robust solutions that help produce scientific research which can change the world.
On completion of the development programme, you will join one of Diamond's SSCC groups.
