In this role, you’ll join one of our Balfour Beatty Power T&D teams as a Graduate Site Engineer, based in Scotland, supporting projects across the whole country.

What you'll be doing

As a Graduate - Site Engineer you’ll play an important role in the safe and successful delivery of major infrastructure and construction projects. Working alongside experienced engineers, construction managers, and project teams, you'll apply your academic knowledge in a practical environment while developing the technical, commercial, and leadership skills needed for a successful engineering career.

You’ll gain experience across the full project lifecycle, supporting the planning, coordination, delivery, and assurance of engineering activities on site. Through a structured graduate development programme, you'll develop a strong understanding of site engineering, construction methods, quality management, project controls, and stakeholder engagement while working towards professional accreditation.

You’ll support with:

• Supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of engineering and construction activities across live projects
• Setting out, surveying, and checking works to ensure they are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, technical information, specifications, and construction documentation to support project delivery
• Monitoring site activities and supporting project teams to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards
• Managing and maintaining project records, including site diaries, progress reports, inspection records, surveys, and engineering documentation
• Supporting the management and coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, and site operatives to help achieve programme and project objectives
• Undertaking inspections, audits, quality checks, and assurance activities to verify compliance with project requirements and technical standards
• Applying health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems, including risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work
• Identifying, assessing, and escalating hazards, risks, technical issues, and opportunities for improvement
• Supporting project planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and progress monitoring activities
• Working collaboratively with engineers, project managers, subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders to support successful project delivery
• Using digital engineering tools, construction technologies, and project systems to support reporting, coordination, and decision-making
• Contributing to continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence across construction and infrastructure projects
• Developing a strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, project delivery, and infrastructure asset management
• Taking ownership of your ongoing professional development, working towards chartership and developing advanced technical and leadership capabilities

Who we're looking for

We value your potential over past experience and are looking for graduates with a degree in ideally Civil or Electrical Engineering and a genuine interest in our industry. To be eligible, you’ll need to achieve a minimum 2:2 honours degree by the time you start.

Flexibility is essential, as assignments can vary based on project needs. All reasonable travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy. Project locations include Dundee, Inverness, Fort William, Motherwell, Aberdeen, Invergarry, Elgin amongst others.
