Job summary

GRAHAM is seeking a motivated Trainee Site Engineer to join our Building Division in Eastern Scotland. This graduate apprenticeship role offers hands-on site experience, structured training, and mentorship to develop technical and leadership skills on major construction projects.

You will study while working, covering surveying, setting out, material planning, and quality controls. Ideal candidates are pursuing a BSc in Construction Management or Civil Engineering and have a full UK driving

Qualifications

• Currently studying, or planning to enrol on, a BSc in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related construction discipline, and willing to undertake day-release study.
• Right to work in the UK
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Willing to work throughout Scotland
• An appreciation of Health & Safety practices
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Previous work experience specifically in Construction industry
• Able to demonstrate problem solving

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to
• Undertake Surveying and setting out duties
• Check drawings and quantities
• Assist in scheduling of materials
• Plan the work and efficiently organise site operations in order to meet an agreed programme of deadlines
• Liaise with any consultants and sub-contracts engaged in the project as necessary
• Ensure quality records necessary to meet quality requirements are maintained
• Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
• Arrange testing of materials
• Undertake the testing and calibration of instruments used
• Fully interact with other members of the construction site team
• Liaise with other function/departmental managers
• Introduce improvements and innovation where appropriate to areas of responsibility
• Other duties as required by the Site Manager to facilitate construction of the works
