Graduate Science Teaching Assistant - Candidate Specification

We are looking for a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant who:

  • Graduate with a 2:1 or above in a Science-related subject from a respected university
  • Strong Academic background through GCSE’s and A-Levels
  • A long-term interest in education, teaching or working with young people
  • Previous experience in a classroom, peer mentor or tutor is desirable but not essential
  • Confident communicating your subject in a way that’s engaging and supportive

Graduate Science Teaching Assistant - Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside experienced science teachers to support pupils across KS3 and KS4. Your day will include:

  • Supporting practical experiments and helping ensure health and safety in the lab
  • Leading small-group interventions or 1:1 science sessions to stretch high-achievers or boost confidence
  • Creating engaging revision resources, flashcards or quizzes
  • Helping students with scientific writing, exam techniques and study skills
  • Encouraging curiosity and questioning through discussion and hands-on learning
  • Assisting with classroom organisation, displays and prep work
