Job description

Location: London, minimum four days per week onsite across Herne Hill and Carter Lane, with travel to other Group offices as required

Contract: 18-month fixed-term Group Transformation Fellowship

At Mark Allen, we create specialist content, events, data and insight for professional communities across sectors that matter.

As AI Fellow, you will be a full member of our four-person AI Implementation Pod, a multidisciplinary, agile team at the centre of Mark Allen Group, supporting our wider Group transformation programme.

This is a high-potential graduate and very early-career opportunity, designed to give you 18 months of intensive, hands‑on experience in AI implementation, strategy, organisational transformation, product and innovation, data and senior decision‑making. You will contribute to live transformation activity from the outset, working with colleagues across the business and external specialist partners.

Reporting to the AI Programme & Adoption Manager, you will work alongside the AI Strategic Implementation Lead and AI Technical Implementation Lead, gaining exposure to how business opportunities are identified, developed and implemented. The Pod works closely with managing directors, functional leaders and our Development and Data teams to deliver practical change across the Group.

You do not need to arrive as an AI expert, and we are less interested in a particular degree subject than in your potential to learn quickly, think critically and make a meaningful contribution.

This is not a role where you will simply observe from the sidelines. You will contribute to real transformation work, develop your research, analytical and communication skills, and take progressively greater ownership of substantive projects as your capability develops.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Track relevant developments in AI models, tools, agents and business applications.
  • Research how organisations are using AI, automation and new ways of working to improve processes, products and business performance, particularly across media and publishing.
  • Turn your research into concise, useful summaries for the AI Implementation Pod and wider business.
  • Identify high-quality external learning, research, tools and case studies.
  • Help the team stay informed about important regulatory and market developments.
Support the delivery of Group transformation
  • Support discipline‑level discovery and implementation activity across the Group.
  • Help map and document workflows and potential use cases.
  • Support pilots, tool testing and experimentation.
  • Assist with workshops, working sessions and wider programme activity.
  • Maintain clear documentation of actions, decisions and lessons.
  • Take ownership of defined workstreams as your experience and capability develop.
Turn learning into practical resources
  • Work with the AI Programme & Adoption Manager to curate the Group AI curriculum.
  • Help research, write and curate engaging internal content that keeps colleagues informed about relevant AI developments, practical applications and lessons from across the Group.
  • Help turn external learning into practical Mark Allen guidance and resources.
  • Develop case studies, practical guides, examples and internal resources.
  • Capture good practice and lessons from across the business so learning is shared rather than lost.
  • Support the AI Ambassador community with materials and communications.
Test and experiment
  • Test new tools and capabilities within approved environments.
  • Document their strengths, weaknesses, potential use cases and limitations.
  • Support structured comparisons between different platforms and approaches.
  • Help identify emerging capabilities that could create value for the business.
Contribute to wider transformation
  • Support transformation work where AI intersects with data, product, operating model or innovation.
  • Undertake research and analysis for the AI Implementation Pod and Group COO.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across teams and functions.
  • Build increasing independence and ownership throughout the Fellowship.
What You Will Be Here To Achieve

Over the 18-month Fellowship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Become a highly capable and trusted member of the AI Implementation Pod, contributing to the wider Group transformation programme.
  • Develop a strong practical understanding of how AI, automation and new ways of working can support organisational transformation and deliver commercial value.
  • Produce consistently high‑quality research and programme outputs.
  • Develop the ability to research, write and communicate complex AI and transformation topics in ways that are relevant and accessible to colleagues across the business.
  • Help keep Mark Allen connected to rapidly changing AI practice.
  • Help ensure the organisation captures and shares learning.
  • Progressively take ownership of increasingly substantive pieces of transformation work.

By the end of the Fellowship, you will have developed from a high‑potential graduate or early‑career candidate into someone capable of independently owning meaningful transformation activity.

Must-haves

We are looking for potential rather than a particular degree subject or existing AI expertise. You will need to be:

  • Intellectually curious and able to learn quickly.
  • Academically strong or able to demonstrate equivalent high performance.
  • An excellent researcher who can identify credible, relevant information.
  • A clear and concise writer.
  • Highly organised and dependable.
  • Numerate and comfortable working with information and data.
  • Confident experimenting with new technology.
  • Able to distinguish meaningful insight from hype.
  • Proactive and comfortable taking ownership.
  • Collaborative and confident working with colleagues at different levels.
  • Willing to ask questions and challenge constructively.
  • Genuinely interested in how technology changes organisations and work.
Nice-to-haves
  • Some practical experimentation with AI, coding, data analysis, automation or digital tools.
What You’ll Gain From The Fellowship

This is a genuinely developmental Fellowship designed to accelerate your experience and give you exposure to areas that would not normally sit within a single early‑career role.

You Will Gain Exposure To
  • AI strategy and practical implementation.
  • Organisational transformation.
  • Workflow and operating‑model redesign.
  • Product and innovation.
  • Data and technology.
  • Senior leadership and ExCo‑level decision‑making.
  • Change management.
  • External consultancy and specialist partners.
  • The commercial operation of a diverse media and information group.

Mark Allen is a specialist media business with more than 40 years of experience building trusted brands for professional audiences. You will join a business with established, respected brands and an ambition to keep evolving, giving you the opportunity to contribute to real Group transformation and see how AI, automation and new ways of working can make a difference across the organisation.

What makes this Fellowship different is the breadth of exposure. You will not be observing transformation from the sidelines. You will work on live activity, learn from experienced colleagues and specialist external partners, and be given increasing responsibility as you demonstrate your capability.

Success means becoming a trusted source of energy, insight and execution capacity, helping keep the programme connected to emerging practice, turning learning into useful resources and progressively taking ownership of substantive work.

We Offer
  • A genuinely developmental 18-month Fellowship with increasing responsibility.
  • Hands‑on experience of live Group transformation projects, including AI, automation and improvements to how the business works.
  • Exposure to senior leaders, different functions and specialist external partners.
  • The opportunity to develop practical experience across AI, data, product, innovation, programme delivery and organisational change.
  • Company benefits.
  • Exposure to specialist markets and loyal professional audiences.
  • A culture shaped by our values – Passionate, Creative, Nurturing and Fair.

Right to work: Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

Whether you’re just starting or looking for the next step in your career, Mark Allen will provide you an opportunity to excel. Ben Allen CEO
