Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley, supported by Mott MacDonald, is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to support the United Utilities framework. You will work with sub-contractors and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget from our Manchester base.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering, a valid driving licence, and a proactive, detail‑oriented approach. Travel across the UU region will be necessary to fulfil contract obligations and ensure value and safety

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Keen eye for detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with sub-contractors, ensuring project needs are met.
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders while minimising costs to maximise value.
  • Keep proper records, including final accounts, for audits and cost assurance.
  • Develop contract management skills and understand NEC change control.
  • Promote quality, cost and efficiency, assisting with safety documentation and commissioning plans.

This role is working for our United Utilities framework, so travel around their region is required.

What You’ll Do
  • Work closely with sub-contractors, while ensuring that the needs of a project are met
  • Effectively manage relationships with various stakeholders, while minimising costs to maximise the value received
  • Ensure that proper records, including final accounts, are kept and maintained so financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
  • Develop contract management skills, understanding the New Engineering Contract (NEC) contract and how change control works.
  • Promote our quality, cost, and efficiency strategy to ensure everyone is minimising costs and maximising value and assist with maintaining our world class safety culture – through the production of critical designs, health and safety documentation, O&M manuals and commissioning plans
