Job summary

Amey is offering a Graduate Project Manager role in the Built Environment based in Manchester, with options in Sheffield or Derby. You will work 40 hours per week (Mon-Fri) and start in September 2027, developing practical skills on infrastructure projects across the UK.

You’ll learn from experienced professionals, gain exposure to planning, risk management and project governance, and work towards recognised qualifications and chartership pathways as part of Amey's commitment to safety,

Qualifications

• A 2:1 or above in a Project Management related subject.
• Desirable placement year, internship or work experience within PM, construction, engineering or consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of projects across education, healthcare, local authority, infrastructure and public sector environments.
• Assist Project Managers with planning, scheduling, risk management and project controls.
• Monitor progress and help prepare reports, presentations and client updates.
• Attend project meetings, record actions and support the coordination of project teams and stakeholders.
• Contribute to cost management, forecasting and project governance activities.
• Support the management of project documentation, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.

About The Team

The Built Environment PM Team brings together experienced project professionals who are passionate about delivering successful outcomes for our clients and communities. We work collaboratively across a wide range of projects, providing leadership, assurance and support from project inception through to completion. By combining strong project controls with a customer-focused approach, we help deliver safe, sustainable and value-driven solutions that make a positive difference to the built environment. Based on Amey's focus on delivering critical infrastructure projects, creating positive societal impact and leaving a legacy of sustainable infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Support the delivery of a diverse range of projects across education, healthcare, local authority, infrastructure and public sector environments.
• Assist Project Managers with planning, scheduling, risk management and project controls.

• Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and internal teams.
• Help identify project risks and opportunities and support the implementation of mitigation actions.
• Gain exposure to commercial, contractual and procurement processes.
• Work alongside experienced project professionals and technical specialists, learning best practice approaches to project management.
• Complete professional development activities and work towards recognised project management qualifications and chartership pathways.

To be considered for the pathway, you'll need to meet the following requirements:

• A 2:1 or above in a Project Management related subject.

Desirable

• Placement year, internship or work experience within project management, construction, engineering or consultancy.
• Awareness of project management methodologies and principles.
• Working towards or an interest in gaining professional membership with organisations such as:
• Association for Project Management (APM)
• Chartered Management Institute (CMI)
• Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) where relevant
