Job summary

SLR Consulting is seeking a highly motivated Geologist to join our Mining Advisory team, offering early‑career development in geological modelling, resource evaluation and mine planning. Hybrid working is supported, with an emphasis on site work and client-facing tasks across the mining sector.

Based in the UK, you will gain mentorship while contributing to projects for global mining clients and advancing technical advisory capabilities within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Geology or related Earth Science.
• Graduate membership in a relevant professional body (or eligible).
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Desirable drilling fieldwork, core logging and sampling.
• Experience with CAD/GIS and geological modelling software.

Job description

SLR Consulting is looking for a highly motivated Geologist to join our growing Mining Advisory team, which is part of our wider European Advisory service line. This is an exciting opportunity for an early‑career geoscientist to develop technical and consulting skills while working alongside an experienced, multidisciplinary group supporting clients across the mining and minerals sector. Based within one of SLR’s UK offices, you’ll contribute to a wide range of projects involving geological modelling, mineral resource evaluation, quarry and mine planning support, due‑diligence studies, and broader technical advisory work for global mining clients.

The role

With Support And Mentorship From Colleagues, You Will

• Undertake geological site work, such as core logging, sampling, and mapping
• Assist with the design and supervision of mineral resource drilling programmes
• Generate and manage geological databases
• Review, interpret and report geological data
• Carry out geological modelling and help prepare technical reports
• Assist with the preparation of proposals and contribute to business development within the company

The position will involve regular site work which may involve working on sites away from home.

As a graduate you will automatically be enrolled on our structured Graduate Programme which will support both your technical and business development giving you a great foundation for a rewarding and dynamic career.

About You

Whilst the role would suit a graduate seeking their first professional role, we would equally be happy to hear from candidates who have already gained some degree of post-graduate experience in a commercial environment, in a comparable role. Due to the nature of the role, a full driving licence valid in the UK is essential for this position.

• Degree (or equivalent) in Geology (or related subject) and formal academic training in Earth Science
• Graduate level membership of a relevant professional body (or eligibility for)
• Experience of drilling fieldwork, core logging and sampling is desirable
• Familiarity with spatial software such CAD, GIS tools, as well as geological modelling software, such as LSS, Leapfrog, Surpac, Datamine, Micromine would be advantageous
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to write concise reports and confidence to interact with clients
