Job Description:

VEV specialises in designing and implementing scaled enterprise fleet solutions. Our expertise lies in optimising fleets, charging infrastructure, and operations to maximise the benefits of transitioning to sustainable transportation. With a wealth of experience in delivering comprehensive turnkey charging solutions at scale, we are committed to guiding organisations through a seamless transition towards a greener future.

If you are passionate about sustainable transportation, innovation, and making a positive impact, we invite you to join us at VEV. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects, collaborate with industry experts, and drive meaningful change in the world of e-mobility.

Position overview

At VEV we are growing our power optimisation commercial function, aimed at creating additional value for C&I customers through using our VEV IQ platform. Our smart charging algorithm bridges between power markets, the needs of the EV fleet, and our ability to forecast and control when charging can most optimally occur. Working across the business, the successful candidate will be helping to shape a core pillar of VEV.

We are looking for a motivated and analytical Graduate Power Commercial Analyst to join our team to help shape the future of power optimisation for EVs. This entry-level role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the commercial operation of power assets and electricity markets in the UK. You will support the development of commercial models, operating strategies, and asset optimisation initiatives that help us navigate a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

The Power, Flexibility & Optimisation function has the following responsibilities:

  • Lead thinking within VEV on the role of power optimisation as a scalable pillar within the business to drive long-term value creation
  • Identify and build partnerships to provide market access for VEV and our customers in power supply and power flexibility services
  • Partner with customers to understand their current and future needs for power and design commercial structures to create value and manage risk
  • Collaborate across VEV, particularly with the Product and Projects functions, to clarify needs and ensure alignment with the roadmap for VEV’s digital platform and with project design specs
  • Provide ongoing account management to customers to ensure that they understand their ongoing costs and risks, along with opportunities to create additional value

Core responsibilities

  • Helping to frame power supply, flexibility and optimisation opportunities for VEV’s customers by analysing their needs and developing proposals
  • Analysing meter data, performing bill validation, confirming cost of power (including hedging activities), and reconciling any errors
  • Supporting the new connection process for power supplies for customers to ensure metering requirements are met, including working with project teams, meter operators and power suppliers
  • Preparing for and supporting the delivery of monthly account reviews for customers
  • Analysing and maintaining an internal database of electricity cost components, and staying abreast of industry changes
  • Developing Excel models to support cost forecasting for C&I power supply

What they are looking for from you

  • Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related disciplines), with strong analytical and numerical skills and a keen interest in the UK energy sector
  • Knowledge: Ability to analyse and model energy flows
  • Analytical skills: Proficient in Excel models and data analysis
  • Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Internship or project experience related to energy
  • Awareness of the UK electricity market structure and key stakeholders (e.g. Ofgem, National Grid ESO, Elexon).
  • Familiarity with concepts such as decarbonisation, flexibility, demand-side response, electricity grid balancing.
  • Experience with Power BI for data visualisation or Python for data analysis
  • A good understanding of project economics
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
