Job description

Graduate or Assistant Geotechnical Engineer

This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate or Assistant Geotechnical / Geo-Environmental Engineer to join a leading consultancy in Hertfordshire.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, analytical, and report writing skills, with a good understanding of UK legislation.

The role includes:

  1. Phase I Geo-Environmental & Geotechnical Assessments:
    • Undertaking desk-based research including site reconnaissance surveys
    • Preparing reports under the supervision of senior team members
  2. Phase II Geo-Environmental & Geotechnical Assessments:
    • Supporting site investigations initially, progressing to independent investigations
    • On-site monitoring of gas, groundwater, and surface water
    • Data input, management, and interpretation
    • Factual and interpretative report writing

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, practically minded, organized, confident, and self-motivated, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and clients is essential.

Required Experience:

  • A degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Geoscience, Applied Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • A post-graduate qualification is advantageous but not essential.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is beneficial.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
