Job description

Reports to: Legal Delivery Centre Team Leader

Type of Role: Hybrid

Reference number: 10527

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the legal operations function of a global law firm at a time when the legal services market is experiencing a period of significant change, driven by growing expectations, new technology and an evolving competitor marketplace. Our clients are increasingly looking for new approaches to satisfy the needs of their legal challenges. Legal Operations is no longer simply a support function, it is a strategic capability as we fundamentally change the way in which we deliver legal services to our clients.

Our Graduate Operations Analyst role is part of an innovative and forward-thinking initiative designed to cultivate the next leaders in the legal operations field. Over the course of two years, participants will have the opportunity to work across key operational areas: Legal Project Management, Helix (managed legal services), Legal Delivery Centre and Practice Management. This opportunity not only offers a comprehensive introduction to the multifaceted world of legal operations but also provides a pathway to a potential permanent position within our firm, contingent upon business needs and individual performance.

This role requires attendance in our London office 3 days a week where you will have the opportunity to sit with some of the teams you are working across.

This role is suited to candidates seeking a long-term career in legal operations or in operations functions more broadly. The work will not constitute Qualifying Work Experience under the SQE route to qualification. Therefore, this role is not best suited to those looking for a Training Contract or to otherwise qualify as a Solicitor.

The Role
  • Supporting legal operations projects across Legal Project Management, Helix, the Legal Delivery Centre and Practice Management.
  • Analysing operational data and preparing reports, dashboards and presentations.
  • Helping document processes, requirements, feedback and lessons learned.
  • Supporting the creation of templates, guidance notes, knowledge resources and user materials.
  • Coordinating tasks, meetings, actions and updates across teams.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, service delivery and ways of working.
  • Learning and applying relevant legal technology and AI tools responsibly.

We are looking for strong interpersonal skills, commercial awareness, motivation, problem-solving skills and the ability to learn business and legal concepts efficiently.

  • A recent graduate or soon-to-be graduate with a first-class degree in a traditionally academic discipline, preferably one demonstrating strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills such as humanities, social sciences, economics or mathematics.
  • Able to attend our London office as required.
  • Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom without sponsorship.
  • Self-starter who is proactive, enthusiastic and curious to learn.
  • Strong interest in technology, artificial intelligence and process improvement, with the ability to identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when maintaining documentation, reporting and operational information.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to collaborate with stakeholders across teams and business functions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive information.
Nice to have:
  • Experience using or willingness to learn AI tools (including ChatGPT) and other legal technology solutions to support operational excellence and innovation.
  • Ability to produce and maintain high-quality documentation, guidance, templates, knowledge resources and user support materials.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and provide practical recommendations.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to agreed deadlines.
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyse data, produce reports and create clear, engaging presentations.
