Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital

The Graduate Nurse Neuro Medsurg at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital provides patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting, focusing on acute care patients receiving active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention assessment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Administers bedside patient care under supervision, collaborating with preceptors, leaders, and charge nurses.
  2. Assesses patient needs, develops and revises individualized care plans, and evaluates patient progress.
  3. Builds respectful relationships with team members and patients, respecting diversity.
  4. Acts as an advocate for patients and their families.
  5. Provides age-appropriate care based on the patient’s developmental stage.
  6. Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician as needed.
  7. Collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams for effective care planning.
  8. Supports hospital and nursing department goals, serving as a role model.
  9. Considers growth and development principles, assessing data to meet patient-specific needs.
  10. Coordinates patient care, delegates tasks appropriately.
  11. Documents all aspects of care accurately, complying with standards.
  12. Maintains competency in nursing skills and equipment use.
  13. Prioritizes patient care based on evidence-based standards.
  14. Identifies and resolves problems effectively.
  15. Delegates tasks considering patient needs and team members’ capabilities.
  16. Communicates patient conditions and unit concerns effectively.

Qualifications

Education/Training

Graduate of an accredited nursing school; eligible for practice with a temporary license from the Alabama Board of Nursing; authorized to take the NCLEX; meets competency requirements for Baptist Health and Orlando Health.

Licensure/Certification

Must obtain and maintain a temporary or permanent RN license in Alabama or via NLC; current BLS certification; ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC certifications required for specific units, with NRP required for NICU.
