Overview

Job Title: Graduate Submarines Naval Architect


Location: Barrow (Cumbria)


We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 5 days per week.


Salary: £34,000 + £2,000 Welcome Bonus



Responsibilities


  • Working closely with the MOD and other external stakeholders to agree and understand engineering and design requirements.

  • Participate in various design working groups with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders (e.g. MOD, QinetiQ, Rolls Royce and other suppliers) to design the form of the hull and other hydrodynamic aspects.

  • Undertaking a range of analyses and calculations (e.g. relating to stability and manoeuvrability).

  • Providing delivery teams across all submarine programmes (Astute, Dreadnought and SSNA) with guidance and support in matters related to naval architecture.

  • Supporting activities to ensure the timely delivery of submarines to the Royal Navy.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you'll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Technology, Naval Architecture, Small Craft Technology, and Offshore Engineering. Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture with High Performance Vehicles, or Naval Architecture with Ocean Engineering. Ship Science, with hons in Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering, Naval Engineering, or Yacht and Small Craft.
