Arup’s London Energy team is seeking a graduate mechanical engineer to support delivery of low carbon energy systems. You will work on high-level sizing, district heating and cooling, and economic feasibility studies within a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with energy systems modeling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design of district heating and cooling piped systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies and owners' engineering roles for low-carbon energy projects.
• Develop whole-system energy models and scenarios.

The Opportunity

The Energy team in London is recruiting a graduate mechanical engineer to join to support our work in delivering low carbon energy systems.

We are a multidisciplinary group of engineers, scientists, policy makers and planners. Our projects include infrastructure design (for substations, power lines, renewable energy installations, etc), new grid connection studies, high-level master planning studies and low carbon energy strategies from building scale to city scale.

Recent Projects Include

• Low carbon energy masterplans for large development sites in the UK, the Middle East and India
• District heating, cooling and piped systems design
• Renewable energy feasibility and owners engineering roles
• Energy system strategies

Responsibilities

You will be involved in high-level infrastructure sizing, mechanical systems design, including district heating, cooling and other piped systems. Your key responsibilities will include:

• High-level piped system design for masterplan designs
• Renewable energy feasibility studies and owners' engineering roles
• Detailed design of piped systems, including district heating and cooling
• Low carbon energy system strategies and whole system modelling

Is this role right for you?

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

• A master's level in relevant academic discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Physics.
• Software skills in Python, MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Skills in communication (written and verbal), teamwork, global energy systems and techno-economic modelling.

To be considered for a graduate opportunity, your application must meet the following criteria:

• Full working rights in the country of application
• No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
• Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
