Job description

JOB– Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION– Plymouth

TERM– Permanent

SALARY– 28,000 – 35,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client designs and manufactures in the Marine and Defence industry. They are looking for a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Plymouth on a permanent basis.

The Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
  1. Degree BSc / BEng qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  2. 0–2 years or more industry experience
  3. Proficiency with 3D CAD software– ideally Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD etc.
  4. Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
  5. Any previous experience working with machinery and automated systems would be beneficial
  6. Be able to work well individually as well as part of a team
  7. Have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  8. Be keen to develop with a company long term
The Graduate Mechanical Designer Engineer role will involve:
  1. Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
  2. Seeing through design projects from concept through to completion
  3. Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
  4. Creating component and assembly models to satisfy customer requirements
  5. Liaising with manufacturing providers
  6. Producing the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
  7. Updating 3D models and drawings
  8. Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
  9. Checking drawings for sign off
  10. Working in a small multi–disciplinary team on varied projects
