JOB: Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION: Plymouth

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: GBP 28,000 - GBP 35,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client designs and manufactures in the Marine and Defence industry. They are looking for a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Plymouth on a permanent basis.

Candidate Attributes:

• Degree BSc / BEng qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• 0-2 years or more industry experience
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software: ideally Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, etc.
• Ability to carry out mechanical calculations
• Previous experience working with machinery and automated systems is beneficial
• Ability to work well individually and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Keen to develop with the company long-term

The Role:

• Collaborate within the engineering team with other Design Engineers
• Manage design projects from concept through to completion
• Use CAD for concept design and produce technical drawings
• Create component and assembly models to meet customer requirements
• Liaise with manufacturing providers
• Produce documentation for design, project reports, and plans
• Update 3D models and drawings
• Input parts into the MRP system and create BOMs
• Check drawings for sign-off
• Work within a small multidisciplinary team on varied projects
