Job summary

West Midlands Pension Fund is seeking a Graduate Management Trainee in Wolverhampton to develop IT service delivery, business analysis, cyber assurance, and supplier management within the Systems function.

WMPF is one of the UK's largest pension funds providing local authority pension benefits for employees across the West Midlands. We manage and administer the pension interests of over 330,000 scheme members, 800+ employers and currently have over £21 billion in assets under management.

We are recruiting for Graduate Management Trainees to join our continually growing Operations Service area. Our brand-new offices are based at the i9 building in Wolverhampton and are an excellent location for transport links by car, bus, train, and tram.

What the day will look like

The role of Graduate Management Trainee in the Systems function of West Midlands Pensions Fund offers an excellent chance to develop your IT, technical, business, and personal skills within a fantastic environment.

You will have the opportunity to work on various activities relating to IT Service Delivery, Support, Business Analysis, Cyber Assurance, Supplier Management as well as exposure to automation and AI technologies.

The scheme includes hands-on experience, formal industry-recognised IT qualifications to help you to develop and understand The Fund’s operations and how IT plays an important role in enabling the Fund in its key operations and deliver its regulatory obligations.

During The Placement You Will Have Exposure To Different Aspects Of The Systems Function Which Could Include But Not Limited To
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of an IT Service Catalogue, ensuring services are clearly defined, accessible, and aligned with business needs.
  • Assisting in managing IT assets throughout their lifecycle, tracking hardware and software inventories, licensing, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies.
  • Working alongside IT teams to identify recurring issues, perform trend analysis, and contribute to long-term solutions that improve system stability.

The ideal candidate will have a “can-do” attitude, and a willingness to learn. They will be a good communicator, who makes sense of complex ideas and conveys them to others in a way that is easy to understand. They will be excited to help drive innovation, offer new ideas, and think up fresh ways of tackling problems!
