About the role
We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Graduate Lighting Designer. The role will involve developing skills and experience by working on projects from initial concepts through to completion and commissioning. You’ll be growing by working and learning alongside our team of experienced designers. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to develop a career in lighting.
Team structure & reporting line
Within the Lighting Team, the structure is as follows:
You would be line managed by someone at a Senior (or above) grade, who would ultimately report to the Group Leader.
What’s the purpose of the role?
As with all built environment consultants, the purpose of the role is ultimately to provide design advice to our clients and collaborators on their projects, at an agreed fee rate which generates a profit for the business. However, within Atelier Ten, it’s not just about the margins. We include “creating a planet-positive impact” and “creative design excellence” when defining success too.

We’re looking for someone with an enthusiasm for lighting with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. You’ll need to work as part of a team as well as having the initiative to work under limited supervision. You’re proactive, self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills and comfortable working with colleagues on all levels.

Ultimately, good looks like being a part of delivering incredible and creative design, in a planet and climate-sensitive manner. However, in the early stages of your career, this could be defined by having an open mind to learning the creative, technical, software and hardware-based skills that you will need to succeed in this aspiration. These will need to be complemented by a growing awareness of how to communicate approaches and design ideas, with increasing ability in graphical, presentation and client management skills.
