About the role

We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Graduate Lighting Designer. The role will involve developing skills and experience by working on projects from initial concepts through to completion and commissioning. You’ll be growing by working and learning alongside our team of experienced designers. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to develop a career in lighting.

Team structure & reporting line

Within the Lighting Team, the structure is as follows:

  • Associate
  • Senior Designer
  • Designer
  • Graduate

You would be line managed by someone at a Senior (or above) grade, who would ultimately report to the Group Leader.

What’s the purpose of the role?

As with all built environment consultants, the purpose of the role is ultimately to provide design advice to our clients and collaborators on their projects, at an agreed fee rate which generates a profit for the business. However, within Atelier Ten, it’s not just about the margins. We include “creating a planet-positive impact” and “creative design excellence” when defining success too.

What you will be doing?

Under the guidance of senior designers, you will:

  • Develop concept lighting designs and represent these in graphical form
  • Produce design reports in Adobe InDesign

  • Select luminaires to realise the design concept

  • Experience in AutoCAD and Photoshop
  • Good hand sketching skills would be advantageous
  • Ability to work in Revit and Rhino is beneficial

What does good look like?
