Graduate - Learning Support Assistant

A fantastic specialist school in Bristol are looking for a dedicated graduate to join their growing team as a Learning Support Assistant. In this role, you will play a vital part in the classroom, supporting primary and secondary-pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). These include Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, speech and communication challenges, learning disabilities, and mental health challenges.

As a Learning Support Assistant, your focus will be to support the students academically and emotionally. Many of the children struggle to understand and manage their emotions, as well as interpret those of others. You will help them develop greater self-awareness, build empathy, and manage behaviours effectively. You will also support their communication skills, helping them express their thoughts, needs, likes, and dislikes.

This SEN school places a strong focus on developing students' life skills and social skills. This means you will be involved in creative, hand-on lessons such as cooking, dance, drama, sports, outdoor education, community engagement, and sensory therapy.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who aspires to become a psychologist and is looking to gain hands-on experience in the field of SEN. You will work closely with vulnerable children across a range of ages and abilities, many of whom receive support from Social Workers and Educational Psychologists.
