About this role:

Exciting opportunity for a person starting out in their career in accounting & finance with a role involved in all aspects of the daily finance functions at this large single Academy, including transaction processing, budgeting, reporting and analysis. Support will be provided in funding and time to take accounting exams, and from the small but experienced management team, providing an excellent learning and development opportunity, as has been the case with a previous role holder.

You'll be working closely with budget holders, suppliers and others to deliver day-to-day financial functions as well as contributing to streamlining initiatives ensuring we all work together efficiently & effectively.

The successful applicant will:
  • be qualified to at least AAT level, have a relevant graduate degree or have proven relevant experience
  • have good excel skills with ability to write formulas and use pivot tables to manipulate data quickly
  • recognise importance of data & systems skills and demonstrate aptitude & desire to use technology to its full potential
  • have an enthusiastic approach, inquisitive mindset and always strive for continuous improvement.
  • have well developed communication skills, understanding importance of keeping stakeholders informed and updated
  • have good team working skills, being approachable and personable
  • pride themselves on reliability, accuracy and take responsibility for their role
  • proactive in planning and have a well organised approach to their work and studying
Main Responsibilities (initially)
  • Requisitions and Purchase Ledger, supporting budget holders manage their budgets
  • Tracking Grant Income and operating the Sales Ledger

  • Cash book postings and bank reconciliation
  • Financial tracking & analysis of school's activities
