Overview

Are you a science graduate with a passion for solving complex problems and applying analytical thinking to real-world challenges? CDP is looking for a bright and curious individual to join our Insight & Strategy team, where you\'ll help shape innovation strategies across both healthcare and consumer sectors. Our team brings together scientific understanding and strategic thinking to uncover unmet needs, explore market opportunities, and define programmes that deliver lasting impact. Based in our Cambridge office that houses our purpose-built user research facility, you\'ll contribute to generating the evidence-based insights that inform strategic decisions for our global clients. Initially you will use your technical knowledge and research skills to support the senior strategy team; however, as you progress, you will have the opportunity to learn key competencies within Innovation Insight & Strategy, such as stakeholder and market research, use of strategy tools, commercial analysis, business case development, supporting client workshops, and IP and technology landscaping. You\'ll work closely with technical experts and consultants on multidisciplinary projects spanning a wide range of sectors. Please note: this is a non-laboratory role, ideal for those who want to apply their scientific training in a more commercial and strategic context. Responsibilities
  • Support the senior strategy team using technical knowledge and research skills.
  • Learn key competencies within Innovation Insight & Strategy, including stakeholder and market research, use of strategy tools, commercial analysis, business case development, supporting client workshops, and IP and technology landscaping.
  • Collaborate with technical experts and consultants on multidisciplinary projects spanning a wide range of sectors.
  • Contribute to generating evidence-based insights that inform strategic decisions for global clients.
  • Maintain a clear, succinct, and compelling presentation of findings to senior stakeholders within CDP and client organisations.
Qualifications
  • A degree, Master\'s degree or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Be able to demonstrate an entrepreneurial attitude or commercial awareness, demonstrated through a university project or other extracurricular activity
  • Have a strong foundation in science with a naturally enquiring mind, able to apply knowledge to explore broader opportunities in technology, markets, and user needs
  • Be able to rapidly distil complex information from multiple sources
  • Have the confidence and ability to present findings in a succinct and compelling way to senior stakeholders within CDP and client organisations
  • Have exceptional organisational, time management and IT skills
