Your role:

We are looking for a Graduate Hydrogeologist for our Water team, joining our 2025 Graduate Programme. You may be based in any of our Shrewsbury, Birmingham, Redditch, Manchester, Cardiff or Bristol offices.

As a Stantec graduate, you will collaborate with your team and wider cohort, developing your hydrogeological expertise within an exciting and creative interdisciplinary environment.

The Opportunity

Stantec's market-leading Environmental Services group supports clients in the water, environmental and geotechnical sectors. You will join a friendly team of over 25 hydrogeologists, contributing to high-quality projects and applying your digital modelling skills to real-world challenges. At Stantec, we offer a supportive environment to further your personal and professional development, through a combination of our graduate programme and comprehensive training opportunities.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to deliver high-quality solutions to environmental problems in the water and minerals industries, involving both field and office work. You'll learn to conceptualise, quantitatively describe and report on hydrogeological systems and processes. You will also develop skills in a wide range of core services, including water resources, groundwater and river and coastal modelling, flood risk assessments, drought analysis, climate change assessments, hydrogeological impact assessments, and catchment management, all whilst leveraging your digital skills and numerical analysis. Finally, you'll gain experience in project management principles, working within budget and scope, and liaising with analytical laboratories and other professional sub-contractors.

About you

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geography, Environmental Science or other relevant subject with a keen interest in working in Hydrology and Hydrogeology, you will be:

  • A collaborator: You'll love to work effectively with lots of different people at different levels, all inputting their part towards a shared goal.
  • An adapter: Able to remain calm in new situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
  • A planner: Organizing and managing your own activities, dealing effectively with multiple priorities with a structured approach.
  • A striver: Exhibiting ownership, consistently delivering on tasks and objectives. You'll be motivated and proactive in your tasks, having the desire to make a real difference.
  • A multi-tasker: Thinking about more than one task at a time, while still having an eye for detail.
  • A problem-solver: You'll love to give your thoughts based on what you see, being unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support.

What we can offer you:

  • A competitive salary
  • Private medical insurance
  • A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection and life assurance
  • Permanent employment contract to demonstrate our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec
  • Professional progression plan, supporting you to gain professional chartership
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment and Early Careers peer group and wider ERG network
