Graduate Geotechnical/Geo-environmental Engineer

I'm looking for a graduate or an engineer with under 1 year of experience to join this expanding geotechnical and environmental consultancy team based in Leeds. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop their career in the geo-environmental sector while working on diverse projects across the residential, retail, industrial, and petrochemical sectors. The team works nationwide in the UK, with the Leeds office focused on supporting northern customers.

The Role

This Graduate Geotechnical/Geo-environmental Engineer position offers a hybrid working arrangement with a 50/50 split between office and site work.

You'll work on a diverse mix of residential and commercial projects, including retail developments, petrol stations, and large commercial redevelopments.

Graduate Geotechnical/Geo-environmental Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Initial Development Phase (First Few Months)
  2. Shadow senior engineers during site investigations and office-based work
  3. Learn data analysis and reporting techniques under supervision
  4. Observe field supervision of drilling operations
  5. Understand borehole logging using visual inspection techniques

Progressive Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out site assessments for contaminated land and geotechnical projects
  2. Assist in assessing potential environmental impacts and undertaking risk assessments
  3. Field supervision of drilling operations with support
  4. Soil and water sampling to industry and company guidelines
  5. Phase 1 desk studies and waste classification with senior support
  6. Interpretative report writing rather than factual reporting
  7. Design and deliver site investigations and write interpretive reports
