Graduate Geologist / Geo-environmental Engineer

Grampian Geotechnical (Scotland) Ltd group is an established provider of geotechnical and environmental engineering services across the UK. The company provides a wide range of services to residential, retail and commercial property developers, estate owners and funders, manufacturers and industrial process operators, civil/structural engineers, local authorities and regulatory agencies who rely on its expertise in geotechnical engineering, ground contamination appraisal, remediation services, environmental due diligence, auditing and other related services.

We are looking to recruit a Graduate Geologist / Geo-environmental Engineer to join our busy team, which includes geotechnical engineers, environmental scientists and geologists. This is a full-time role (45 hours) based in our Aberdeen office, with travel across Scotland to undertake site work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for site investigation, sample taking, report writing, and supervising on site. The role offers first-class training and development opportunities, alongside a focus on employee well-being. Our multidisciplinary consultancy completes projects across mainland Europe and our head office is based in Aberdeen. Working on a number of sites nationwide on both small and large-scale projects in various industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Good communication is required to liaise with other project staff and the client to best deliver projects.
  • Work as part of a team on intrusive ground investigations involving multiple techniques including sonic, rotary, cable percussion and window sampling boreholes, geophysics, trial pits amongst others.
  • Soil and rock logging to current geotechnical standards, including laboratory scheduling.
  • Willingness to learn how to collate geotechnical data using the latest industry software and write reports for external clients within stringent internal protocols.
Person Specification
  • More experienced applicants must demonstrate a sound understanding of the UK site investigation industry and applicable standards.
  • BSc degree level qualification in Geology, Earth Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Geoscience or a related environmental subject is essential.
  • A desire to become a key member of the local team of engineers through delivering high-quality work.
  • Full UK driving licence essential.
  • One or more of the following abilities would be advantageous but are not essential.
