Job description

Description

Due to our clients continued expansion we are looking for a Graduate Geo-Environmental Consultant. The role will involve both site and office-based tasks and will include providing support to regional projects across the business as required. You will receive hands-on guidance and support from the team, allowing you to develop your career within both Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical fields.

The position provides an ideal opportunity for an ambitious, energetic and capable individual who is confident in communicating effectively with colleagues, multi-disciplinary teams, contractors and regulatory authorities and able to demonstrate competency in decision making during site works.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Regularly attending site, undertaking investigations, walkovers and monitoring.
  2. Managing Geo-Environmental projects, dealing with suppliers and preparation of health and safety documentation.
  3. Writing a range of geo-environmental reports including Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigations, Remediation Strategies, Validation reports and Agricultural Land Classification Assessments.
  4. Liaising with clients and regulators.

The Role

  1. Logging of soils to relevant and up-to-date environmental guidance.
  2. In situ testing methods, trial pitting, dynamic sampling, cable percussive drilling, auger drilling, conventional rotary.
  3. Scheduling both chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing.
  4. Conducting site walkovers and performing a variety of site investigation fieldwork tasks.
  5. Experience in writing factual and interpretive Geo-environmental reports.
  6. Geotechnical knowledge including foundation design and slope stability, mining investigations, contaminated land and planning.
  7. Willingness to learn and take on other environmental disciplines as required.

Requirements

  1. Relevant degree in the environmental / geotechnical / soil science sector.
  2. Work experience in the industry preferred but not required.
  3. Full UK driving license.
  4. Ability to travel to site regularly as required including regular overnight staying.
