Job description

Opportunity for a Graduate Flood Risk Consultant to join our growing, multidisciplinary team in Cheltenham, GL50 3LH, in autumn 2025.

As a Graduate Flood Risk Consultant, you will deliver hydraulic modelling to support nature-based solutions, Flood Risk Assessments, and drainage design. Current projects include a settlement-wide flood alleviation scheme, redevelopment of a brownfield site for residential development, and a proposed 2,500-unit ‘new community’.

What you will be doing
  • Implementing 1D and 2D modelling techniques for river and urban flooding applications
  • Implementing flood risk management techniques and methods including option appraisals
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports
What You Will Need
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Geography, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Water)
  • Demonstrate motivation and talent to become a flood risk consultant
  • Ability to research and produce high-quality reports (demonstrated through studies or work experience)
  • Knowledge of 1D or 2D hydraulic modelling software packages (e.g., HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW), gained through study, work, or personal research
  • Knowledge of flood risk management techniques and methods, including option appraisals
  • Understanding of the planning process
  • Experience in collaborative working with good communication skills
  • Awareness of UK hydrological methodologies and flood risk policy
  • Full UK driving licence
  • The Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
