JOB SPECIFICATION
GRADUATE FLOOD RISK ANALYST
Salary: £24,000 - £28,000
This role is for recent graduate engineers, environmentalists, hydrologists and geographers
with less than 5 years of industry experience.
Responsibilities – reporting to an associate or principal engineer, the graduate will be
responsible in assisting in the data gathering and preparation of reports for a range of
activities with an aim of achieving a broad range of skills and experience.
Activities – the role of the graduate can be varied covering topic areas such as hydrology,
hydrogeology, hydraulics, river modelling, drainage management strategies, SUDS, flood
risk assessments, emergency evacuation plans and flood risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications – a minimum requirement is either a degree in an engineering or
environmental subject, or experience of a similar nature combined with a HNC.
Skills – a requirement of the role is to have good project management skills including
strong organisational attributes, good timekeeping, excellent communication skills.
Technical skills are also desirable but not essential, especially in software such as QGIS,
Flood Modeller Pro, ESTRY, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, Microdrainage, AutoCAD and MS Office.
