Job summary

Arup is seeking graduates to join its fire safety engineering team in the UK. The role covers fire strategy development, site visits, and collaboration with engineers and designers on high-profile projects. You will gain hands-on experience and work toward a professional qualification from day one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fire strategies in coordination with the engineering design team and inspect and assess fire safety management and protection measures in existing buildings/facilities.
• Liaise with external designers and other construction professionals on a wide range of projects; use fire-specific design software.
• Visit sites to monitor the implementation of fire strategies and learn about installation of fire safety systems.
• Contribute to diverse, high-profile client projects from day one and pursue professional qualification from day one.

The Opportunity

Your role will encompass all aspects of fire safety engineering. This will range from preparing fire strategies in co-ordination with the engineering design team to the inspection and assessment of fire safety management and protection measures in existing buildings/facilities.

As part of this, you will have the opportunity to liaise with external designers and other construction and building professionals on a wide range of projects; experience and develop your ability to use fire-specific design software; conduct research in a variety of skills groups; and have the opportunity to visit sites to monitor the implementation of fire strategies and learn about the installation and construction of fire safety systems.

• From day one, you'll be given responsibility to help contribute to a range of varied and high-profile clients but will also be supported in learning about fire engineering and developing as a fire engineer.
• We'll support you in working towards a professional qualification from day one.
• Undertake fire safety research to develop evidence-based solutions for novel fire safety hazards and strive to find ways to improve safety equity for the most vulnerable, for our clients, and in partnership with academia and industry.
• Apply our 'total fire engineering' approach, working on projects from feasibility to operation.
• Enable a sustainable, resilient built environment, using the latest knowledge and expertise, assisted by our own in-house digital tools and software.

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant academic discipline, such as Fire Engineering, All Engineering and Architecture Study.
