Job summary

Arup is seeking a Graduate Fire Engineer in Glasgow to contribute to fire safety strategies across diverse projects. You will work with the engineering design team, gaining hands-on experience from day one and supporting the pursuit of a professional fire engineering qualification.

The role offers opportunities to liaise with external designers, visit sites, and participate in research to advance fire safety solutions while using in-house digital tools and software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Fire Engineering or related field.
• Full working rights in the country of application.
• No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fire strategies in coordination with the engineering design team.
• Inspect and assess fire safety management and protection measures in existing buildings/facilities.

• Develop experience with fire-specific design software and conduct related research.

The Opportunity

Your role will encompass all aspects of fire safety engineering. This will range from preparing fire strategies in co-ordination with the engineering design team to the inspection and assessment of fire safety management and protection measures in existing buildings/facilities.

As part of this, you will have the opportunity to liaise with external designers and other construction and building professionals on a wide range of projects; experience and develop your ability to use fire-specific design software; conduct research in a variety of skills groups; and have the opportunity to visit sites to monitor the implementation of fire strategies and learn about the installation and construction of fire safety systems.

• From day one, you'll be given responsibility to help contribute to a range of varied and high-profile clients but will also be supported in learning about fire engineering and developing as a fire engineer.
• We'll support you in working towards a professional qualification from day one.
• Undertake fire safety research to develop evidence-based solutions for novel fire safety hazards and strive to find ways to improve safety equity for the most vulnerable, for our clients, and in partnership with academia and industry.
• Apply our 'total fire engineering' approach, working on projects from feasibility to operation.
• Enable a sustainable, resilient built environment, using the latest knowledge and expertise, assisted by our own in-house digital tools and software.

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant academic discipline, such as Fire Engineering, All Engineering and Architecture Study.
