Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is inviting graduates to join our 2027 Early Careers programme as a Graduate - Finance, based at the Maxim Office. From day one you’ll take on real responsibility, gain hands-on experience and work with experienced colleagues who will support your growth.

You’ll develop technical and professional skills in financial planning, analysis and reporting while building a commercial mindset to support project delivery and business growth across our UK infrastructure portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance with a minimum 2:1 honours.
  • Finance graduates with genuine interest in the industry are eligible.
  • Must have or be working toward a 2:1 honours degree by start date.

Responsibilities

  • Support financial planning, analysis and reporting across the business.
  • Assist with forecasting, budgeting and performance management.
  • Analyze project costs, revenues and profitability to provide insights.
  • Collaborate with project teams to monitor performance and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations and reporting.

As a Graduate - Finance, you'll join our 2027 Early Careers programme and gain hands‑on experience while contributing to some of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. From day one, you'll take on real responsibility, develop technical and professional skills, and work alongside experienced colleagues who will support your growth. You'll also be part of a supportive graduate community, building the skills, experience and industry‑recognised accreditations needed for a successful career.

In this role, you’ll join one of our Enabling Functions teams as a Graduate - Finance, based in Balfour Beatty Maxim Office.

Please note that this role may require travel to various locations, which means you may occasionally need to work and stay away from home. Flexibility is essential, as assignments can vary based on project needs. All reasonable travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy. Before joining Balfour Beatty, you must hold a full UK driver's license.

What you'll be doing

As a Graduate - Finance, you'll play an important role in supporting financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities across the business. Working alongside experienced finance professionals and operational teams, you'll apply your academic knowledge in a practical environment while developing the technical, commercial, and leadership skills needed for a successful career in finance.

You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of finance activities, helping project and business teams understand performance, manage costs, and make informed decisions. Through a structured graduate development programme, you'll develop a strong commercial mindset and build a detailed understanding of how financial performance supports successful project delivery and business growth.

You’ll Support With
  • Contributing to financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management activities
  • Analysing project costs, revenues, profitability, and financial trends to provide meaningful business insights
  • Partnering with project teams and operational stakeholders to monitor performance and identify risks and opportunities
  • Supporting month‑end and year‑end processes, including reconciliations, financial reviews, and reporting requirements

We value your potential over past experience and are looking for graduates with a degree in Finance and a genuine interest in our industry. To be eligible, you’ll need to achieve a minimum 2:1 honours degree by the time you start.
