Qualifications

• Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and UK planning/consenting process.
• Strong communication, coordination, time management and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to environmental planning and impact assessment across projects.
• Assist with data collection, screening, scoping and reporting under EIA regulations.
• Prepare clear reports (EIAs, CEMPs) and review outputs for accuracy.
• Collaborate with air quality, biodiversity, land use, transport and other teams to assess impacts and mitigation.
• Develop specialist knowledge in climate change, socio-economics, human health or construction phase environmental management.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

Tetra Tech Europe is an industry-leading multi-national, multi-disciplinary consultancy. Our Environmental Planning Team supports the continued growth of the UK Environment, Sustainability & Planning (ESP) team and wider business, delivering environmental co-ordination, EIA and related assessment and management work across renewables/energy, water/utilities, residential, defence, infrastructure, waste and minerals. You'll join a team with an established workload, a strong reputation, ISEP EIA Quality Mark membership and active involvement in industry working groups, presentations and conferences.

Your Impact in this position

Working with support from senior colleagues, you'll contribute to environmental planning, optioneering and impact assessment across a varied project portfolio. You'll help deliver work to programme, budget and quality standards, build your skills in project management, business development and technical assessment, and produce technically robust outputs that inform responsible project decisions.

5 Core Capabilities

• 1. Project Co-ordination Support - Support project managers across multiple projects, working with teams, stakeholders and subcontractors, and helping programme site surveys.
• 2. Environmental Impact Assessment - Assist with screening, scoping, data collection, impact assessment and reporting, with working knowledge of EIA Regulations and the EIA process.
• 3. Report Writing and Communication - Prepare clear reports such as EIAs and CEMPs, present findings where needed, and review deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
• 4. Collaboration Across Disciplines - Work with colleagues in air quality, biodiversity, land use, transport and other teams to assess impacts and mitigation.
• 5. Technical Specialism Development - Build expertise in climate change, socio-economics, human health, natural capital or construction phase environmental management.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

A Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management or a related field, plus academic and/or practical EIA experience. Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, guidelines and the UK planning/consenting process is essential, alongside strong communication, coordination, time management, problem-solving, attention to detail and analytical skills.

Working Environment

This is a graduate role based in a supportive consultancy environment, with hybrid working available in line with team and project needs. As you develop in the role, there will be an expectation to spend more time in the office initially to support learning, collaboration and onboarding. The role may also involve occasional travel to site or other offices as required.
