Job summary

Harris Academy Billericay is looking to appoint a dedicated graduate Tutor in English. The salary is £22,122.32-£22,463.67 for 37.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year. This role supports students through targeted 1:1 and small-group sessions within a busy academy environment.

The successful candidate will hold an English-related degree (or equivalent) and demonstrate strong numeracy and literacy skills, with a commitment to safeguarding and high expectations of student achievement.

Qualifications

• A Level English qualification evidence and an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in English.
• Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver programmes of study to small groups of students in 1:1 settings.
• Liaise with parents regarding attendance, progress and attitude of designated students.
• Maintain records of students' progress relative to exam targets.
• Complete marking and provide feedback within a whole-class setting, highlighting learning needs.
• Assist the teacher in evaluating identified students’ progress through assessment activities.
• Support identified students to engage with the lesson objectives.
• Plan with teachers the role in the lesson and prepare resources meeting students' needs.

Main Areas of Responsibility

• Delivering programmes of study to small groups of students in 1:1 setting
• Ensuring students are given every opportunity to meet their examination and/or Liaising with parents regarding the attendance, progress and attitude of designated students
• Maintaining records of students' progress in relation to their examination targets
• Completing relevant marking and providing feedbackWithin a whole class setting, highlighting individual students' learning needs to the teacher and agreeing how they will be supported
• Assisting the teacher in evaluating identified students' progress through agreed assessment activities
• Supporting identified students to engage with the learning objectives set for the lesson
• Planning with teachers the role they will take in the lesson, preparing resources that meet the students' needs and interests

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant qualifications that help demonstrate evidence at A Level and undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in English
• Excellent numeracy/literacy skills
