Graduate English Teaching Assistant Position


Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Salary: GBP85-GBP100 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time Only
Start Date: September 2025


Are you a recent English graduate with a passion for education and literature? Are you considering a career in teaching and looking to gain hands-on classroom experience in a supportive and dynamic secondary school?

A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Chelmsford, Essex is seeking a Graduate English Teaching Assistant to join their vibrant English department from September 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers, support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, and play a key role in helping raise attainment and engagement in English.


About the Role:
Support the delivery of English lessons, working with individuals and small groups
Assist students in improving their reading, writing, and analytical skills
Provide targeted intervention sessions for students who need extra support
Help create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
Gain valuable insight into lesson planning, classroom management, and student progress tracking


About You:
A recent graduate in English Literature, English Language, or a related discipline
A strong academic background with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Passionate about education and considering a career in teaching
Confident, enthusiastic, and able to inspire young learners
Previous experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)
