Job summary

Arup is a global consultancy delivering policy, strategy and engineering advice in the water sector. This graduate opportunity offers exposure to strategy, regulation, resilience, investment planning and asset management, with mentorship and professional qualification support.

You will contribute to thought leadership and client engagement while collaborating with teams across Arup’s worldwide network to shape the future of water infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in Water, Process, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geography, Geology or related field.
  • Masters or postgraduate degree in a similar water-related discipline is a plus.
  • Course accredited by ICE, CIWEM or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Develop policy, regulatory and asset-management advice for city and infrastructure clients.
  • Work with Arup experts across the global network to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Support client engagement and business-development activities.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a graduate to join our dynamic and growing team who is excited by the challenge of driving innovation, delivering excellence for our clients, influencing the sector both nationally and internationally through our projects and thought leadership, and working in collaborative, diverse teams.

We combine policy, strategy, economics, engineering and asset management expertise to help clients make better long-term decisions. Our work influences national policy, investment decisions and operational strategies across the water sector.

From your first day, you'll work alongside some of the water sector's leading practitioners.We will support your development through professional qualification support, formal training and opportunities to contribute to thought leadership, business development and client engagement.

This position offers the opportunity to work across strategy, regulation, resilience, investment planning, engineering and asset management rather than focusing on a single technical discipline.

You will benefit from collaborating with experts from across Arup's global network and play a role in shaping the future of the water sector

Working as part of a team, your role will be to help generate advice for city and infrastructure clients on a range of policy, regulatory, asset management and engineering issues.

Is this role right for you?

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

  • Enthusiasm for a career in Water, underpinned by a knowledge and understanding of our sector and work
  • Minimum of a 2:1 Bachelors degree or equivalent in Water, Process Engineering, Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, Geography, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Geophysics, OR; Masters or post-graduate Degree in a similar Water related discipline.
  • Studying, or have studied, a course accredited by ICE, CIWEM or equivalent
  • Interest in water sector regulation, business planning, price reviews, performance frameworks and long-term investment decisions.
  • Motivation to help address climate resilience, environmental improvement, water security, affordability and sustainability challenges.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills ability to use and interpret data, evidence and research.
  • An appreciation of complex systems and the need to balance technical, environmental, social, economic and regulatory factors.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a view to developing these towards eventually working with clients, regulators, partners and colleagues.
  • Curiosity, initiative and an organised approach to delivering high-quality work.

  • Full working rights in the country of application
  • No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
  • Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
