Graduate Engineer Overhead Line

Location: Midland Metro Ltd, Wednesbury Depot, Potters Lane, WS10 0AR
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, DOE + Excellent Benefits!
Contract: Full time, Permanent

Over the coming years, our metro network will transform from a single line to a new network that will triple in size! The expansion will see the metro service 80 tram stops, connect 20 transport interchanges and link many areas in the Midlands together.

West Midlands Metro are now actively recruiting for an Graduate Engineer to develop engineering capabilities within the Overhead Line (OLE) discipline.

In addition to this, following a period of training, as our Graduate Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with technical support to the OLE maintenance team.
  • Contributing to the investigation of OLE faults.
  • Supporting the development of maintenance plans and corrective repair schemes.
  • Participating in the preparation of technical specifications for project work and renewals.
  • Reviewing and interpreting survey data to identify condition trends.
  • Analysing field data from inspections and testing.
  • Contributing to technical reporting, change documentation and engineering assessments.
  • Supporting the resolution of emergency defects or urgent repairs under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Contributing to incident reviews, identifying causes and documenting lessons learned.

In order to be successful in this role you must have:

  • A BEng or Meng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (minimum 2:2).
  • An understanding of engineering principles.
  • A basic knowledge of safety and technical standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills alongside strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • A full clean UK Driving license.

It would be great if you had:

  • Proficiency in data analysis and use of technical tools.
  • Internship / placement experience in rail, OLE or infrastructure engineering.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and digital survey tools.
  • Awareness of asset management systems.
  • Knowledge of railway or DNO electrical systems.
