An established industry player is seeking motivated individuals to join their graduate program focused on developing railway standards. Over 36 months, you will engage with various teams and industry members, gaining insights into the challenges of creating a safe and efficient rail system. This role offers the chance to build a professional network and work towards achieving Chartered Engineer status, all while contributing to significant projects that enhance sustainability in the railway sector. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact, this opportunity is for you.
RSSB develops railway standards on behalf of the railway industry in Great Britain. Standards are an agreed way of doing something, and so, they ensure interoperability, help manage risks, reduce costs as the rail industry does not have to re-invent the wheel every time the same situation occurs and so they also open markets.
Over the course of 36 months, you will work across RSSB and wider industry to gain a holistic insight into how we work and the challenges the industry face in providing a safe, efficient, and sustainable rail system.
You will be based within RSSB’s Standards Infrastructure Team which manages, and drafts Infrastructure Standards for Great Britain (GB) and international railway systems. It also provides technical leadership for a range of Infrastructure issues, from track maintenance to station design.
You will have the opportunity to work with other teams within RSSB and take external placements with our members in industry. You will be able to build relationships across the railway industry and deliver a safer, more efficient, and sustainable rail system.
By the end of the programme, you will have built a professional network that will help you with your career within RSSB and beyond, and with our support you will be on your way to achieving Chartered Engineer status (CEng).
These are the key activities you are likely to be involved with:
Please note: The scheme may involve visiting RSSB member companies, as well as rotations to include placement(s) internally or externally and flexibility would therefore be required to travel.
If you are shortlisted, the next step of the selection process will involve a telephone interview (11th and 12th June) and if you are progressed at this stage you will be invited to an interview and assessment at our offices (24th and 25th June).
