Job summary

Jackson Civil Engineering Ltd is seeking a Graduate Engineer to join the project team on-site in the Kent or East Sussex area. The role includes guidance and training, with duties ranging from setting out and surveying to on-site management and liaising with subcontractors.

You will support the progression toward Site Engineer and ICE membership. The position requires a civil engineering degree (BEng or MEng) with about 1 year of placement or postgraduate experience, a full UK driving licence,

Qualifications

• Graduate with BEng or MEng in civil engineering with 1 year placement or postgraduate experience.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel in the Southern Region.
• Eligible to work and live in the UK without restriction.

Responsibilities

• Progress the construction process and assist in delivering the project.
• Develop awareness of setting out/surveys and apply on site.
• Manage setting out requirements on site and coordinate tasks.
• Communicate with site personnel and subcontractors to aid construction.
• Carry out inspections and testing to ensure conformance of works.
• Complete relevant site records, including daily site diaries.
• Adhere to the Project Management Plan and safety policies.
• Support progression to Site Engineer and professional membership with ICE.

Job description

The successful applicant will be working out on site within a project team as a Graduate Engineer in the Kent or East Sussex area. Guidance and training will be provided and this will be a great opportunity to put theory learned at University into practice. Duties:

• To progress the construction process and assist in delivering the project. To develop awareness, understanding and ability to successfully perform the key tasks and responsibilities and progress to Site Engineer.
• Become proficient in all setting out/surveying techniques and apply this within the workplace, through use of the equipment provided, ensuring equipment is fit for purpose.
• Manage setting out requirements on site, own time/tasks & self-development.
• Communication with site personnel and subcontractors to aid construction
• Manage site activities and carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works.
• Complete relevant site records as required, including daily site daily.
• Have a sound awareness of, and adherence to, the Project Management Plan
• Work towards professional membership with the ICE and carry out duties required under your capacity as a STEM Ambassador.
• With guidance from Senior Personnel, review hazard/risk assessments and method statements, including alerting relevant personnel to control measures and work methods therein.
• Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures.

• A confident communicator, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals.
• Graduates holding an undergraduate or master's degree in civil engineering with 1 year experience either in an industrial placement year or postgraduate.
• Eligible to work and live in the UK without restriction.
• Full UK Driving Licence and happy to travel throughout our Southern Region.
