Platform Recruitment is seeking a Graduate Electronics Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team in Gloucestershire. The role focuses on FPGA development, electronics design and embedded systems, with opportunities to contribute across signal processing, PCB design and Linux driver work.

The ideal candidate is a recent graduate or PhD with strong maths/physics background and hands-on experience in VHDL, PCB design, and C/C++ development.

Qualifications

• 1st or 2:1 degree, or PhD, in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another numerate subject.
• Strong academic background in Mathematics and Physics.
• Knowledge of FPGA development using VHDL, PCB design and layout, or Embedded C/C++ development.

Responsibilities

• Implement signal, image and data-processing algorithms in VHDL.
• Design PCBs incorporating FPGAs, SoCs and high-speed interfaces.
• Complete schematic capture using OrCAD.
• Support PCB layout, manufacture and assembly.
• Develop test firmware and embedded software.
• Write Linux device drivers for bespoke hardware.
• Test and bring up newly designed PCBs.

I'm recruiting for a technology company seeking a high-calibre Graduate Electronics Engineer to join its multidisciplinary engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or PhD candidate with a strong academic background and an interest in FPGA development, electronics design and embedded systems.

The Role

You will contribute to the development of advanced electronic systems, with responsibilities including:

• Implementing signal, image and data-processing algorithms in VHDL
• Designing PCBs incorporating FPGAs, SoCs and high-speed interfaces
• Completing schematic capture using OrCAD
• Supporting PCB layout, manufacture and assembly
• Developing test firmware and embedded software
• Writing Linux device drivers for bespoke hardware
• Testing and bringing up newly designed PCBs

Essential Experience

• A 1st or 2:1 degree, or a PhD, in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another numerate subject
• A strong academic background in Mathematics and Physics
• Knowledge of at least one of the following:
  • FPGA development using VHDL
  • PCB design and layout
  • Embedded C or C++ development
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently
