Job summary

Binnies, part of the RSK Group, is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join the team at East of England on the @one Alliance. You will develop through dedicated mentoring, work on clean water and wastewater projects, and gain hands-on experience across design and project activities.

You will learn to apply British Standards and WIMES, design LV/MV electrical installations, and develop control, automation and telemetry knowledge while progressing from feasibility to construction.

Qualifications

• 2:2 degree in a relevant discipline.
• Experience within a project engineering environment.
• Good technical knowledge with an understanding of how different engineering disciplines interact.
• Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of clean water and wastewater projects across design and project activities.
• Develop understanding of British Standards and Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications (WIMES).
• Support design of LV and MV electrical installations, assemblies and equipment.
• Learn control, automation, monitoring and telemetry systems.
• Produce drawings, specifications, schedules and datasheets for tender.
• Contribute to Health & Safety Files and Designers Quality Assurance documentation.
• Progress projects from feasibility through detailed design to construction.
• Attend and document site surveys, identifying risks and mitigation measures.
• Support site investigations and review results.

About the Role

Are you a recent Electrical Engineering graduate looking to build your career in the water industry?

We’re looking for a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our team at Binnies, working as part of the @one Alliance. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your technical skills and gain hands-on experience working on clean water and wastewater projects.

You’ll be supported throughout your development by a dedicated workplace mentor, who will help you build the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to progress towards becoming a fully competent Electrical Engineer.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you’ll gain experience across a range of design and project activities, including:

Supporting the delivery of clean water and wastewater non-infrastructure design projects.

Developing your understanding and application of relevant British Standards and Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications (WIMES).

Supporting the design of LV and MV electrical installations, assemblies and associated equipment.

Developing knowledge of control, automation, monitoring and telemetry systems.

Supporting the selection of instrumentation.

Producing clear and concise drawings, specifications, schedules and datasheets for tender.

Considering risk elimination and reduction when undertaking design activities.

Developing your understanding of requirements including the Electricity at Work Regulations (EaWR) and DSEAR, where applicable.

Supporting the preparation of Health and Safety Files and Designers Quality Assurance documentation.

Assisting with technical queries during construction and developing an awareness of cost, health and safety and structural integrity.

Progressing projects from feasibility through detailed design to construction.

Attending and documenting site surveys, identifying opportunities, risks and mitigation measures.

Supporting site investigations and reviewing results.

Assessing existing site power consumption and the condition of electrical installations and operational technology infrastructure.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across different engineering disciplines and with clients, operational teams and third parties.

Researching and contributing innovative ideas and new ways of working to improve project delivery.

Your Development

Complete work-based learning to the required standard.

Begin the process of working towards professional qualifications with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Gain practical experience across different stages of engineering projects.

What We're Looking For

A minimum 2:2 degree in a relevant discipline.

Evidence of experience within a project engineering environment in a relevant engineering discipline.

A good level of technical knowledge, with an understanding of how different engineering disciplines interact.

Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

Proven problem-solving ability.
