Job Description:

The Opportunity

We are looking for a self-motivated and talented graduate electrical engineer to join our team of professional electrical engineers located in Manchester.

You will have a passion for engineering with a keen interest in power systems, low carbon technologies, and renewable generation.

You will be based at our modern office location in Manchester City Centre. There will also be opportunities for flexible home working on occasions. In addition, there will be opportunities to visit our clients and sites throughout the UK for particular projects.

You will be supporting our engineers to develop and deliver value-added solutions that help our clients improve the performance of their electricity networks, as well as enabling the connection of modern low carbon technologies.

The role will also involve providing engineering support to our consultants on a range of diverse and exciting projects in a supportive environment.

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills as a young engineer across various disciplines and projects from our talented and friendly team of professional engineers.

About You

You will:

  1. Have recently obtained or be predicted to obtain a BEng (Hons) or MEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (2:1 or better). Similar BSc/MSc (Hons) will be considered.
  2. Be self-motivated and enthusiastic.
  3. Be a friendly and approachable individual, who can work well in a team or on their own initiative.
  4. Have a keen interest in power engineering and a desire to work in the field of electrical distribution networks, facilitating the connection of low carbon technologies to public electricity systems. This will include carrying out power quality assessments of low carbon technologies, conducting network planning studies, specifying power system assets, and supporting the development of innovative solutions that will help achieve net zero electricity networks.
  5. Be IT literate and confident in using various types of software applications.
  6. Have excellent written and spoken English language skills.
  7. Preferably hold a full UK driving licence.

What Can We Offer

The successful candidate will enjoy:

  1. A starting salary of £28,000 per annum (with progression to £32,000 per annum after successful completion of training).
  2. A structured training plan including formal training courses and participation in team-building events.
  3. Use of a high specification laptop and smartphone.
  4. Payment of professional fees.
  5. A modern city centre office environment to work collaboratively with colleagues, together with occasional home working.
  6. 22 days annual leave per year plus bank holidays (which will increase with satisfactory performance and service).
  7. A generous company pension contribution.
  8. Group private medical insurance cover.
  9. Health cash plan.
  10. Team building trips/activities.

Your first year will involve following a structured training plan and shadowing various engineers in our team working across different aspects of electricity networks. Your second year will focus on developing your competence in your chosen technical fields, all under a designated mentor.

The role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to make a real impact, to develop themselves, and work supportively within our close professional team to become an expert in their chosen field and achieve Chartered Engineer status.
