Graduate Electrical Engineer

Role: This is an opportunity for a Graduate Electrical Engineer with a leading International multi-disciplinary design consultancy in Central London. They are one of the UKs Top Employers for 5 years in a row according to Top Employer Institute. Their multi-disciplined team includes MEP (30 strong), Environmental Design & Sustainability, VT, and Architectural Design Lighting. They are involved in high profile and prestigious projects all over the world across a variety of sectors so the role may involve some travel.

Responsibilities:

1. To understand the design project.
2. To prepare, and develop under the guidance of a project leader, calculations, analysis, drawings, diagrams, models and other documents relating to the design.
3. To assist where required in the co-ordination of the internal design team.
4. To take responsibility, where required by the project leader, for specific areas of the design and project development.
5. To liaise, where appropriate, with members of the external design team and other associated organisations or companies.
6. To seek, and record evidence of, continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with the requirements of the relevant professional Institution.
7. To contribute, or otherwise assist, as required by the Project Leader or Senior Partner, or nominated Engineer.
8. To take responsibility in project document control and filing as required by the project leader.

Qualities and Skills:

Essential:

1. Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities.
2. Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based.
3. Technical engineering skills with the relevant university qualifications.
4. Ability to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion.
5. Ability to use a variety of media in the development and documentation of a design project.
6. Advanced knowledge of working with Microsoft Office software to be used for calculations, reports and presentations.
7. Working knowledge of core technical guidance of the IET Wiring Regulations; BS 7671 and CIBSE supporting documents relevant to the position.
8. Excellent organisational skills.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills – articulate and diplomatic manner.
10. Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information.
11. Self motivated and able to take responsibility.
12. Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks.

Desirable:

1. Understanding of the engineer’s role in the co-ordination and integration of project information and management.
2. Understanding of financial aspects of running a design project on time and on budget.
3. Ability to use some of the following: Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Dialux, AGI, Amtech/ Trimble Calculation Software, InDesign, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
