Your new company
A forward-thinking, up-and-coming organisation of consulting engineers specialising in all aspects of building services. Our client is a designer of high-quality MEP systems, providing a first-class service across a diversity of industry sectors including Healthcare, Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and more. This organisation is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with industry experience to join their expanding Edinburgh office. The company has a low staff turnover rate and offers opportunities to work on interesting, challenging, and high-end projects.

Your new role
As a graduate electrical engineer, you will assist your team in ensuring the sustainability, efficiency, and safety of electrical systems across various building types. You will be responsible for contributing to electrical design across a range of projects, working closely with the electrical team. Your duties will include designing and delivering electrical design outputs such as drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Designing electrical systems in a consultancy environment
  • Producing detailed design calculations for all aspects of electrical design
  • Preparing specifications
  • Creating design notes and reports
  • Developing design drawings from conception to detailed design
  • Participating in all project stages from feasibility to completion across multiple sectors


What you'll need to succeed

  • An accredited Building Services / Electrical Engineering degree or higher qualification
  • Working towards chartership
  • Passion and willingness to deliver electrical building services designs across various sectors
  • Experience in all or some stages of electrical design from concept to completion, under supervision
  • Proficiency with digital tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux, Amtech/Trimble, MS Office
  • Basic knowledge of technical and legislative requirements for electrical services
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive attitude
