Graduate Ecologist – Brooks Ecological, Warrington - 1 Year Fixed Term Contract

Brooks Ecological, part of Origin Environmental, is seeking a Graduate Ecologist to join our growing team in Warrington. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career ecologist to develop their skills within a dynamic consultancy, working on a diverse range of projects across the UK.

This is a year-long Graduate programme where you will gain hands-on experience in ecological surveys, reporting, and consultancy, contributing to impactful environmental solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting the ecology team in delivering projects across various sectors.
  2. Supporting ecological surveys, including:
    1. Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA)/Phase 1 Habitat Surveys
    2. Protected species surveys (e.g., bats, great crested newts, badgers, birds)
  3. Compiling survey results into high-quality reports to support planning applications.
  4. Liaising with clients, statutory bodies, and stakeholders.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Degree in Ecology, Zoology, or a related environmental discipline.
  2. Passion for ecology and conservation.
  3. Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and eager to develop professionally.
  4. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  5. Full UK driving licence and access to own transport.

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Experience using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software.
  2. Previous involvement in ecological and protected species surveys.
  3. Strong scientific writing abilities demonstrated through technical reports.
  4. Understanding of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes.
