Graduate Early Years Teaching AssistantLocation: Primary School in Merton, London; Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30am–15:30pm; Salary: £500–£600 per week; Start Date: Immediate

This friendly yet high-achieving Merton primary school is seeking a Graduate Early Years Teaching Assistant to join its nurturing Early Years team. Rated Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted, Merton Park Primary combines small class sizes, a warm staff team and a strong community ethos, providing the perfect environment for children to flourish.

As a Graduate Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping Nursery and Reception children settle into school life, fostering their curiosity, creativity and emotional growth.

Who We’re Looking For

To thrive as a Graduate Early Years Teaching Assistant, you must have:

  • A degree in Early Years, Childhood Studies, Education, or another relevant subject (essential under new EYFS legislation)
  • A genuine passion for supporting young children in their learning and development
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build nurturing relationships
  • An empathetic, caring and resilient nature
  • An interest in progressing into teacher training or Early Years specialism in the future
  • Some experience working with children (desirable but not essential)
Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support the learning and development of children in Nursery and Reception
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support in areas such as phonics, early writing and numeracy
  • Provide empathetic care and help children build confidence and independence
  • Prepare engaging resources and assist with creative, play-based learning activities
  • Support with classroom routines, organisation, and behaviour management
