Role: Graduate DevOps Engineer

Department: Digital, Data & Technology Team (DDaT)

Location: Carbrook, Sheffield

Salary: £31,296 - £35,526

Are you a recent graduate eager to apply your DevOps knowledge in a real-world setting? Join South Yorkshire Police as a Graduate DevOps Engineer and develop your skills while supporting our DDaT team in enhancing digital services and infrastructure.

Role Overview: As a Graduate DevOps Engineer, you will support the DDaT team in the development, deployment, and maintenance of digital services and infrastructure. Your tasks will include assisting in the setup, maintenance, and optimization of CI/CD pipelines, managing cloud infrastructure, integrating solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, and troubleshooting technical issues. You will work with analysts, police officers, and IT professionals, ensuring ethical data use and compliance with relevant regulations.

Skills And Experience

  • A STEM-based degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
  • DevOps skills: Basic understanding of DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD, containerization, cloud services and power platforms.
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of scripting languages such as Python, and familiarity with data analysis tools.
  • Analytical skills: Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present effectively.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
