Graduate Developer, UK based (remote/home based)

We are world leaders in building in open source. We build in many ways, including PHP, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, React, VueJS & Javascript. We also encourage developers to grow DevOps skills for our AWS deployments, so our team knows how to run the software they write. The truly great developers know a level above and below what they are building.

What you’ll do

We’re a customer focused team and the exact nature of your work will change and adapt based on the projects we deliver. That means you’re always learning on the job, and you need to be comfortable with customers, both virtually and in person.

You’ll be involved in:

1. Developing websites and applications in chosen languages and frameworks
2. Writing and designing software in a way that can be open sourced in part
3. Using source control (Git/Github) and actively participating in constant and reciprocal peer reviews
4. Working in an iterative Agile setting in all phases of the software development cycle from collating requirements through to design, development, testing and releases
5. Solving hard technical problems
6. Writing unit and integration tests
7. Working with Docker, temporary pull request environments, Devops environments and be involved in the full lifecycle of software from initial idea to long term operation
8. Collaborating with colleagues and clients alike - contributing ideas, feedback and leading initiatives, where appropriate.
9. Enjoying collaboration with customers.

Requirements

Our perfect candidate will:

1. Have, or be on course to achieve a 2:1 or higher degree in a relevant specialism such as Software Engineering or Computer Science
2. Be genuinely passionate about software development and able to share open source contributions or other online demonstrations of their skills
3. Be resourceful and tenacious, willing to train on the job, with a desire to learn and innovate
4. Have the ability to quickly grasp concepts and solve complex problems
5. Have good interpersonal, communication and time management skills
6. Have some previous work experience (not necessarily in the industry)
7. Be UK based and, by the commencement of employment, have the right to work in the UK
8. Be a positive person trying to move forward and enjoy life
